Quick start setup

Best setup order

Start with bundles — they are the foundation of everything. Enable the discount engine next so savings apply at checkout. Then style the widget to match your brand. Analytics becomes useful once customers start viewing and buying your offers.

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin and click SmartBundle AI in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Bundles in the app navigation, then click Create Bundle.

  3. Add 2 or more products, choose a discount type, set Status to Active, and click Save.

  4. Open your store in a new browser tab, visit a product page that is part of the bundle, and confirm the bundle widget appears.

  5. After your first bundle sale, open Analytics in the app to see revenue, conversion rate, and average order value data.

Overview

Core feature map

Product Bundles

Group products together with a discount and show a buy-the-bundle widget on product pages. Works for starter kits, BOGO deals, curated sets, and add-on packs.

Inventory Guard

Automatically hide bundle offers when any included product goes out of stock, so customers never see an offer they cannot complete.

FBT Recommendations

Show a 'customers also buy' section on product pages with related products you choose. Lifts cart value without requiring a discount.

Cart Nudge

Remind shoppers about bundle savings directly inside the cart or cart drawer before they reach checkout.

Feature guide

Bundles

What bundles do

A bundle groups two or more products on a single product page and offers them together at a discount. When a customer views any product in the bundle, a widget appears showing the full offer — they can add everything to cart in one click without searching for each item separately.

Best used for: starter kits, complete sets, BOGO deals, and complementary product pairs.

How to create a bundle

  1. Click Bundles in the app navigation, then click Create Bundle.

  2. Type a bundle name. This is only visible to you — your customers will not see it.

  3. Click Add Product, search for a product, and select it. Repeat for each item you want in the bundle.

  4. Under Discount, choose how to reduce the price — Percentage (e.g. 10% off the total), Fixed Amount (e.g. $5 off), or No Discount to group products without a price change.

  5. Change the Status to Active and click Save. The bundle widget will appear on your storefront automatically.

The widget appears on all product pages that belong to the bundle — no theme editing required.

Checkout

Discount engine and tiered discounts

Discount engine

The discount engine creates a single Shopify automatic discount that applies bundle savings at checkout for all your active bundles. You need at least one active bundle for it to work correctly.

Do not delete or pause the SmartBundle AI discount from your Shopify Discounts page. It is managed automatically — removing it will break checkout savings for every active bundle.

Tiered discounts

Tiered discounts reward customers who add more to their cart. You set cart value milestones with matching discount levels — for example, spend $50 and save 10%, or spend $100 and save 15%.

  1. Click Tiered Discounts in the app navigation.

  2. Click Add Tier and enter a minimum cart value (e.g. $50).

  3. Set the discount for that tier (e.g. 10% off).

  4. Add more tiers if needed, then toggle to Active and save.

Cross-sell

Frequently bought together

FBT adds a "Customers also buy" section to your product pages with related items you choose. Unlike bundles, FBT does not require a discount — it is a recommendation widget that works on its own to lift cart value.

  1. Click Frequently Bought Together in the app navigation.

  2. Click Add Product and choose the product page where recommendations should appear.

  3. Click Add Recommended Product and select 1 to 4 related items — these are the products customers will see suggested alongside the main product.

  4. If you want a small discount on the recommended add-ons, set it now. Otherwise leave it on No Discount.

  5. Toggle the switch to Enabled and click Save.

  6. Open your store and visit that product page to confirm the recommendations block appears below the product details.

FBT works best for accessories and refills — a camera alongside a memory card, or a yoga mat alongside a yoga block.

Good recommendation rule

Pair products that solve one job together, not just items from the same collection. A customer buying a coffee grinder is a better candidate for filters than for a second grinder.

Cart tools

Progress bar and cart nudge

Progress bar

Shows a visual milestone bar in the cart telling customers exactly how close they are to unlocking free shipping, a discount, or another reward. Keep the threshold achievable — aim for 20–30% above your average order value.

  1. Click Progress Bar in the app navigation.

  2. Set the Threshold Amount — this is the cart total the customer needs to reach (e.g. $50).

  3. Choose the reward type: Free Shipping, a Percentage Discount, or a custom label.

  4. Write a short motivating message that shows in the cart, for example: 'You are $10 away from free shipping!'

  5. Toggle to Active and click Save.

Cart nudge

Appears inside the cart or cart drawer to remind shoppers about bundle savings they can still unlock. It is especially useful when a customer adds one product from a bundle but misses the full bundle offer.

Cart nudge renders through the app proxy. If the widget does not appear, open the Shopify Theme Editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize) and confirm the SmartBundle AI app block is added to your cart template.

Upsell

Post-purchase offers

When to use post-purchase

Post-purchase offers appear on the Shopify thank-you page right after checkout. Customers can accept the offer with one click — no re-entering card details. Use them for accessories, consumables, or upgrades closely related to what the customer just bought.

  1. Click Post-Purchase in the app navigation, then click Create Rule.

  2. Under Trigger Product, search for and select the item. When a customer buys this product, your offer will show up on their thank-you page.

  3. Under Offer Product, choose the item you want to upsell — pick something closely related to the trigger product.

  4. Set a Discount, for example 15% off. A small exclusive discount makes the offer feel time-sensitive and increases acceptance.

  5. Change Status to Active and click Save.

  6. Place a test order on your store using the trigger product, then check the thank-you page to confirm the offer appears correctly.

Post-purchase offers require the Shopify post-purchase extension to be enabled in your Shopify Partner account settings. Email support if you need help activating it.

Brand

No-code styling

Style Settings controls how all bundle and FBT widgets look on your storefront. You can change colors, button style, border radius, and layout without writing any code — all changes apply live.

  1. Click Style Settings in the app navigation.

  2. Under Primary Color, enter your brand's hex code (example: #10B981). To find your theme color, go to Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize → Colors.

  3. Choose a Button Style — Filled creates a solid colored button, Outlined creates a transparent button with a colored border only.

  4. Set Border Radius to control button shape: 0 for sharp square corners, 6–8 for slightly rounded, 999 for a full pill shape.

  5. Scroll to the Preview section to see a live sample of your widget with the new styles applied.

  6. Click Save — all bundle and FBT widgets across your storefront update immediately.

Copy the exact hex code from Shopify Theme Editor → Colors and paste it into the Primary Color field here for a perfect brand match.

Bundle Deal

Complete the look

Matching widget colors and button style to your store theme makes offers feel native rather than added-on.

Operations

Inventory-aware auto-hide

Why it matters

If one product in a bundle goes out of stock, the full bundle becomes impossible to fulfill. Auto-hide removes the bundle widget automatically when any included product is unavailable — protecting your conversion rate and avoiding customer frustration from broken offers.

How to set it up

  1. Click Inventory in the app navigation.

  2. Under Hide Behavior, choose what happens when a bundle product runs out: Hide the offer completely, or Show an out-of-stock message so customers understand why the bundle is unavailable.

  3. For each bundle you want to protect, turn on Inventory Monitoring.

  4. To test: temporarily set a bundle product's inventory to 0 in Shopify admin (Products → select the product → Inventory), then visit its product page and confirm the bundle widget disappears or shows the out-of-stock message.

Reporting

Analytics and revenue tracking

What each metric means

Total RevenueRevenue from all orders that included at least one bundle product.
Conversion RateBundle widget views divided by bundle orders placed. A higher number means your offer is compelling.
AOV LiftHow much higher the average bundle order value is compared to non-bundle orders — your upsell impact.
Top CampaignsYour 5 highest-revenue bundles, ranked. Shows you which offers to scale or duplicate.

How to act on the data

A healthy campaign shows growing views, a steady conversion rate, and positive revenue. Use this guide to diagnose problems:

  1. High views, low conversions → The offer is being seen but not taken. Try a stronger discount or better product pairing.

  2. Low views → The bundle widget may not be visible. Check that the app block is on the right product page template.

  3. Low revenue despite conversions → The bundled products have a low price. Try pairing higher-value items.

New stores need traffic before data becomes meaningful. Aim for at least 50 views per bundle before drawing conclusions.

Help

Support checklist

Before contacting support

Most issues are resolved by working through this checklist first.

  1. In the app, confirm the offer or bundle is set to Active status.

  2. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize. Open the template for the relevant page (product, cart, etc.) and confirm the SmartBundle AI app block is added and turned on.

  3. Open your store in a browser and test the full flow using an eligible product — add it to cart, go through checkout if needed.

  4. Double-check the settings: discount type, product selections, threshold amounts, and trigger conditions.

  5. Check inventory levels — if any product in the bundle is out of stock, the Inventory Guard may be hiding the widget automatically.
